A rainy day in London

Hello again,

its currently 930 pm and we are finally wrapping up our day. We woke up this morning in a  panic thinking it was almost 8 and Laura, Chelsea and I all had eat and be showered and down stairs to leave on our first trip by 9. safe to say we were frantically searching for a way to figure out the time (because there is no alarm clock of any kind in our rooms) and we were thrilled when we realized it was only 6:53 am :) after getting ready we all headed down for the breakfast provided by the hotel. I really enjoyed the apple juice :) as for the rest not so much. soon after breakfast we headed out for our first visit at the Westminster Magistrates Court ( which is equivalent to our county court) and got to experience our first underground tube ride. let me just say that I have a whole new appreciation for living in a small area! we had to cram into an elevator to get to the train and there was about 30 people on this elevator. shear panic mode!! luckily I made it :/ the train ride however was pretty fun. once we got to the magistrate court we were allowed to go into all of the different court room and sit in the "public gallery" and listen to the different cases. we only had time to go to two different court rooms and both of them had Lay Magistrates. if you don't know what that means, its when there are three people from the community that volunteer to sit in and listen to cases and there is also a legal advisor who is there to make sure that the decision they come to is legal. one thing I found rather shocking was that when a case is called the defendant is taken into a room with glass windows and the door is locked behind them. they stand in this room and talk through a speaker to the magistrates. after our court visit we were free to wander and spend the rest of the day as we wished. unforgettably for us it was raining. so we got to bust out our brollies (umbrellas) for the first time. the rest of the day we spent walking around sight seeing and getting things like a cell phone for Laura and a watch for Chelsea. now we are off to bed for our second visit tomorrow. hopefully we will be a little more organized and head out on our own to china town or something more exciting! more pictures to come!!!! ttyl :)

  1. As soon as I read the part about the tubes, I thought "I bet she was panicing!" and it sounds like you were! :) Cute umbrella photos!
